Located in the Souss-Massa-Draa region, Ouled Driss is a ksar built in the seventeenth century. First inhabited by Chorfas and Draouas tribes, this fortified village has evolved over time while keeping its authenticity. In the heart of the village, the main street goes through the town’s square. Along this street, many covered alleys overlook adobe dwellings, with their tamarisk wood beams and their palm wood doors. With a handful of inhabitants, this Kasbah is an oasis surrounded by dunes.
The museum – named Traditional House - is the oldest house in the village. It belonged to the chief of the village, the Chir. Inside, you will discover different everyday objects and customs of the inhabitants of the valley.
In the shade of palm trees, people live from agriculture. They grow wheat and dates. Some stables are home to goats and donkeys. The palm leaves are used to make baskets and mats that are found in the souk’s stalls every Mondays.
