If you like coconut, orange blossom and are wishing to discover Moroccan pastries, then you shouldn’t miss out on snowballs! Try them while traveling in Morocco.
Moroccan gastronomy has numerous sweet dishes and the snowball is one of the most popular. Snowballs are fondant coconut cakes, flavoured with orange blossom and a hint of jam. Those little cakes are very easy to bake and to savour.
To bake 25 snowballs, you will need 2 eggs, 180g of sugar, 150ml of oil, 350g of flour, 60g of cornstarch, half a packet of baking powder, 150ml of orange blossom water, 200g of the jam of your choice and 150g of grated coconut. Start with mixing the eggs, sugar and oil and then add flour, cornstarch and baking powder. Collect the dough without threading and shape into small balls. Place them on greaseproof paper and put them in the oven (180°C) for 15 minutes. Once the 15 minutes have passed and the balls have cooled down, dip them into a mix orange blossom water and jam and roll them in the grated coconut. It is now ready for you to savour.
During your stay in Morocco, you will not have any trouble finding those small snowballs in pastry shops.
